Overview


The National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) is the National College's highly successful flagship provision for aspiring headteachers, which is rooted in and underpinned by the National Standards for Headteachers. It is mandatory to hold NPQH in order to apply for a headship in the maintained sector.

Target Audience


Those who aspire to Headship and are within 18 months of taking up a headship

Cost


£760 per trainee headteacher.

Free for trainee headteachers from Small Schools (those with 100 or fewer pupils of statutory school age)

Programme Content


NPQH allows trainee headteachers to create their own flexible personalised development pathways, building on individual development needs. This will ensure that immediately on graduation, individuals are competent and confident to apply for headship.


Key aspects are:


  • Understand individual strengths and areas for development
  • One-to-one support from a verified NPQH coach
  • Access to a range of National College leadership and management materials
  • Peer learning with other aspiring headteachers
  • Relevant conferences, seminars and master classes
  • A 5 to 20 day placement within another context
