EXECUTIVE
COACHING

Executive Coaching is a developmental coaching model, which focuses on personal and professional growth and change. It will raise awareness, explore issues, identify action and implement change. Executive Coaching is delivered via a one to one approach which takes place in a location of your choice with a member of our team of experienced, nationally accredited Coaches.

The world of the Children’s Workforce is fast-paced, complex and subject to rapid change. A senior leader often finds it difficult to step back and objectively focus on the issues facing them in this pressured environment. There will be issues where it is not appropriate or it is impossible to share and discuss with colleagues within their own organisation. Executive coaching provides a new opportunity; to meet in a safe and confidential environment, with a highly skilled coach who will be an independent sounding board and critical partner.

The start of the executive coaching process is to undertake an assessment of needs i.e. to identify as clearly as possible the most appropriate coaching agenda; whether it be work issues; career development or possibly not to focus on the individual, but to introduce a coaching culture to the organisation. Following this, an initial contract of around five sessions is arranged and agreed. The focus may be individual or a tailored programme of development where the plan is to introduce coaching to the organisation.

Individual sessions will take place at a mutually agreed venue. It can be a good idea for some or most of these sessions to be held away from the usual working environment. Each session will take between two-and-a-half hours and half-a-day, with intervals between sessions agreed at the initial meeting. Various diagnostic tools including a 360 degree feedback process can be helpful. Self assessment and 360 degree assessments are an area of specialism within Carnegie Leaders in Learning Partnership.

The Executive Coaching process does not follow a pre-determined programme; it is always focused on the individual and pays particular attention to their personal growth and development.

If we are working with you to introduce a coaching culture to the organisation, a programme of development will be introduced over an agreed timescale. This will include training and development for all staff.

We have a highly skilled team of Executive Coaches. All have been trained and accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management, which ensures a commonality of approach and standard of practice. The coaches are from an education or business background. All have held senior positions within their field of expertise. We pay great attention to matching the right coach to the right individual.

Executive coaching is about much more than simply setting and achieving goals. Corporate coaching has become an increasingly complex activity. The philosophy underpinning our executive coaching model is drawn from personal and organisational change, appreciative inquiry and psychological theory

“The coach works with clients to achieve speedy, increased and sustainable effectiveness in their lives and careers through focused learning.  The coach’s sole aim is to work with the client to achieve all of the client’s potential – as defined by the client” (Rogers J, 2008, Coaching Skills: A Handbook)

Several key factors help to define and differentiate our coaching model:

  • 1.The client is resourceful
  • 2.The coach’s role is to develop the client’s resourcefulness through skilful questioning, challenge and support
  • 3.Coaching addresses the whole person – past, present and future
  • 4.The client sets the agenda
  • 5.The coach and client are equals
  • 6.Coaching is about change and action
