Consulting for Change
Overview
The Carnegie Extending Leadership Provision seeks to support school and local authority leaders in developing their own potential and responding to the needs of the system. Consulting for Change is designed specifically for those colleagues who will be working in support of other schools on behalf of their local authority.
Programme Content
The core elements of the provision are two consecutive days of facilitated learning and development and a follow up day after about three months during which period it is expected that colleagues will have engaged in support work with another school and to have continued to work with their network of Consultant colleagues. The days will be active and practical supported by theoretical underpinning and the opportunity to engage with real scenarios. There will be a comprehensive reading list provided.
Day 1
- Overview of the programme, expectations, concerns and learning outcomes
- A competency framework for consultancy
- Resonant leadership: self-directed l learning and change
- Introduction to a model for supporting head teachers
- The process of contracting
Day 2
- Understanding a model for supporting head teachers
- The second day will be very practical and focus on developmental activity to enable participants to develop consultancy skills
Follow Up Day
A facilitated review day focused on a reflection and review of the consultancy work that has been undertaken. There will be further supportive input as required.
Target Audience
Experienced head teachers, who have been identified by their LA to provide support and challenge for peer head teachers within their own LA.
