Competency Based Personal and Organisational Development


Research shows convincingly that people perform better when there is: agreement between the individual and the organisation about which behaviours are required for effective performance in their role; and a structured dialogue about how individuals match the requirements of their role.


To support the development of productivity and performance we draw on agreed competency frameworks linked to the strategic needs of the organisation to define roles, underpin selection processes and are an integral part of staff performance and development discussions.


The Carnegie Leaders in Learning Partnership has, over many years (under the guidance of our Chartered Psychologist) invested in the development of high quality competency models assessment tools, methodologies and processes. Our capabilities include:



Examples of our work


We are proud to have worked with a number of Authorities individual organisations in: state funded and independent Education; Healthcare; Social Services; and Private, sectors to help them research, identify and define the competencies they require for a successful future. Subsequently we have supported those organisations to apply their own competency frameworks to effective selection, assessment, performance management and personal development processes.


We have worked with the TTA/TDA/DfES/DFE in the Pilot and Phases 1, 2 and 3 of the Higher Level Teaching Assistant Status. Our contracts include: training of Senior Assessors nationally; provision of Regional support consultants; Quality Assurance (QA) of candidate preparation, delivery; and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) of standards based Assessment and Moderation.


Working with two HEI partner organisations we deliver on behalf of the National College, the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), across the North of England including assessment and moderation against the National Standards for Headteachers.


We are contracted by the Children’s Workforce Council (CWDC) to understand the quality issues, plan and facilitate delivery of CQI within the Early Years Professional Status training, assessment and moderation processes – working with Providers to implement a national CQI plan
